Throughout April, Universal Events teams organized 28 neighborhood cleanup events across 11 cities. The total haul: more than 4,200 pounds of litter removed from parks, waterways, and public sidewalks in the communities where we live and work.

Many of the events were organized by individual field teams and office staff on their own initiative. A team in Atlanta adopted a two-mile stretch of creek bank that had gone uncleaned in years. A Phoenix office took a Saturday to clear a public park where several team members' kids play soccer.

The park looks completely different. My son noticed on the way to practice and asked if someone fixed it. Yeah, buddy — a bunch of someones did.

Partnerships With Local Organizations

Several events were organized in partnership with local environmental nonprofits — Keep America Beautiful affiliates, watershed alliances, and neighborhood associations. Universal Events provided gloves, bags, and logistics; our partners brought expertise on sorting recyclables and safely handling what we collected.

Year-Round, Not Just Earth Month

Earth Month is a good prompt, but the work shouldn't end with April. Several markets have committed to quarterly cleanups through the rest of 2026, and we're exploring a standing partnership with a national watershed organization for 2027.
