On average, people spend nearly one hour per day commuting. It’s quite a bit of time when you look at the big picture. Why waste it? Productivity is a big deal for Universal Events, so we make sure to use our travel time carefully. The following activities help us get ahead while traveling to and from the office:

Catch Up on Phone Calls: Those of us who drive ourselves use hands-free devices, of course, but commuting is perfect for following up with network connections. We also use the time to check our voicemails and return calls as needed, not to mention catching up with friends and family members.

Plan: Associates who take public transportation use their commute time to review their schedules and revise their to-do lists depending on daily priorities. Doing so puts them on track to jump into high-impact work when they arrive at the Universal Events headquarters. Whether riding or driving, we also like to think about our overall life goals. What better time for reflection?

Gather Information: With the availability of podcasts and audiobooks, it’s easy to stay on top of current events and industry news. Instead of allowing technology to distract us with memes, we use it to our advantage and learn while commuting. When we’re feeling extra ambitious, we listen to tutorials and brush up on our foreign language skills.
