Making the most of networking efforts requires a few key behaviors. We’ve learned this through our extensive Universal Events contacting exploits, which continue to benefit our team and company as a whole. Here are a few strategies we apply every time we set out to expand our networks.

The first thing we do before attending any networking event is define our purpose for attending. If we want to make a certain type of connection, we need to do lots of research well in advance of the function. Sometimes we just need some advice or insight from a particular person, which requires us to plan out thoughtful questions.

We also make sure to show genuine interest in every potential contact as we initiate discussions. By leaning in slightly and asking plenty of open-ended questions, we make it easier to identify common ground and forge lasting connections.

Following up is another key behavior for effective networking, but it can’t stop with a phone call or email the day after an event. We make regular check-ins habits around the Universal Events office because we want our contacts to know that we’re invested in productive relationships. Our calendars are filled with reminders to reach out to members of our networks.

We use these simple methods to ensure successful networking. To find out more about our culture, follow us on Facebook
