Philanthropy is part of the Universal Events ethos. We select different causes to support throughout the year. We don’t just do so randomly, however. We are careful to assist nonprofits with missions that are aligned with ours, and in ways that allow us to make the biggest possible impact. The following expert advice helps us make the right charitable choices for Universal Events:

Agreement of Values: According to Kristine Sloan of StartingBloc, “A great way to decipher and discern how to allocate volunteer time is to get crystal clear on the things you value. If you can clarify your values and priorities (Is it healthy families? Gender equality? Environmental Preservation?), you may have a clearer picture of what types of organizations would give you the greatest sense of fulfillment.”

Focus on Results: Roy Speckhardt, of the American Humanist Association, says, “If you want to do good in this world, but don’t know where to start, ask yourself: Do you want to impact local, national, or international problems? Do you want to impact individuals close to home or abroad in a deep and meaningful way, or would you rather advocate for policies that make small changes impacting missions? Knowing your interests, you can choose the right causes.”
