Our team members here at Universal Events venture away from the office on a regular basis. As a result, we are always mindful of trends in the travel industry. We would like to outline a few developments that will affect your travel plans in 2016: • Less Comfortable Flights: Operating costs are forcing some significant changes to air travel, especially if you fly in economy class. Thinner seats with less legroom are becoming more common, so you can expect a somewhat more cramped experience. We at Universal Events also remind you not to be fooled by lower ticket prices, because added fees will make up for the difference in most cases. • Going to Europe Is Cheap: Travel to Europe is thankfully quite affordable these days. Not only that, the U.S. dollar still has a healthy exchange rate across the E.U., so we recommend exploring your options for traveling abroad this year. • Hotel Costs Are Rising: Although a merger between two huge names in the hotel industry is still up in the air, accommodations are getting more expensive throughout the world. According to the Global Business Travel Association, hotel rates will jump 4.7 percent in the U.S. this year. Globally, hotel costs are expected to increase by 2.5 percent. As you make travel plans this year, we at Universal Events hope you will remember and account for these global trends.
