Weekend conferences and reward ceremonies are among the many travel perks we enjoy here at Universal Events. In fact, a shared love of travel is what brought many of us here in the first place. However, frequent trips can be a real financial drain, both for the firm and for us individually. In order to avoid both scenarios, we follow a few simple guidelines.

First, we make sure to plan out our travel expenses as precisely as possible. This keeps us from going over our travel budgets and from making irrational, spur-of-the-moment decisions. Along those same lines, we strive to treat Universal Events money with the same respect that we treat our own – in other words, we don’t buy frivolous upgrades on the company dime.

Of course, most of the fun in travelling comes from seeing new places, so we make sure to factor sightseeing into our travel budget. This way we know we’ll get a chance to visit local museums and restaurants, but we won’t worry about overspending.

Finally, Universal Events’ road warriors make sure to consider how much of another currency we’ll spend while traveling – time. We have travel-friendly accessories like lightweight laptops and notebooks, and keep extra plugs or batteries on hand as well. This allows us to enjoy the journey instead of stressing over the work we’re not getting done.
